Our site ran on WordPress. I was not afraid to change anything, but it was mostly cumbersome. My colleague Benoit and I dreaded it every time, and we had very little flexibility to make a page truly our own. Wouter rebuilt the site into a static version with Tina as the CMS, and that is the big difference: I now simply pick from different layout blocks. A hero at the top, text blocks, images and galleries, a call to action, cards to place things side by side. I compose a page the way I want it, with a preview so I see the result before it goes live.
I manage the content myself now. And whenever something did go wrong, Wouter fixed it very quickly, included in the subscription’s support.
The result is that I share our link again with confidence, for example when we want to invite people to an event. It loads fast and looks the way it should.
Something else that mattered to me: the code and the server access are in our name. That gives me the comfort of being able to take the reins myself, should the need ever arise. I am not tied to anyone.
The switch itself was what I was most curious about, and it went very smoothly. On a Monday morning, and all in all the site was only unavailable for a few minutes before it was back up. Wouter also had a rollback plan ready, in case something did go wrong. Our Google visibility was not affected, thanks to the redirects he set up for each of our nearly 200 blog posts. On the contrary: the new site is better optimised for SEO, and also more findable for AI chatbots than before.
We deliberately chose the subscription model to spread the cost over several years, instead of absorbing the migration in one go. After an analysis of the complexity of our site, the number of pages and our extensive blog, we landed in the Growth tier, with the migration cost fully included in the monthly price. As one of the first customers, we also received a nice commercial gesture on top. A lot of value for our money.
